The International Documentary and Short Film Festival of Kerala has evolved into the key platform for non-fiction filmmaking in the country as part of an endeavour to catalyze a vibrant documentary and short film movement. The festival aims to map and reflect the exploding and imploding nature of the medium in its many facets of creativity and resistance. The IDSFFK aims to ensure the participation of both film professionals and audiences in programs that are designed to trigger dialogue and debates. 

It is an Oscar-qualifying festival in the following categories: Best Long Documentary (Documentary Feature) and Best Short Documentary.

3. INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL OF INDIA (India)

IFFIis the only film festival in South Asia that is accredited by the International Federation of Film Producers' Associations (FIAPF) of the international festivals in the Competitive Feature Films Category. Its goal is to provide a single platform for ambitious filmmakers and industry professionals to have access to excellent cinema from across the world. IFFI's International Cinema section is an assortment of culturally and aesthetically remarkable films from around the world.

4. GRAND CINE CARNIVAL-MALDIVES (Maldives)

The Grand Cine Carnival Maldives (TGCCM) prides itself upon providing opportunities for talented film directors, film producers, writers, actors, and crew members from all over the world to learn together and exhibit their work in a stimulating international environment. The festival ensures and encourages good content from outside the mainstream film industry and they look for films that represent different facets of filmmaking, from polished productions to no-budget gems.

5. NEPAL INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL (Nepal)

Nepal International Film Festival (NIFF)is Nepal’s premier annual film and cultural event. Established in 2018, NIFF celebrates diverse storytelling and narratives worldwide. The event is an initiative conceived to conduct an exchange of film and culture between Nepal and the rest of the world and to create a conscious, capable, and appreciative film culture in the country.

6. JAFFNA INTERNATIONAL CINEMA FESTIVAL (Sri Lanka)

The Jaffna International Cinema Festivalis an international film festival that explores contemporary forms of creative expression in cinema. Their aim is to celebrate independent cinema in the peninsula while creating an understanding of other cultures; it promotes and encourages emerging filmmakers by screening debut films and shorts. 

6. DRUK INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL (Bhutan)

Druk International Film Festival (DIFF)is a monthly live screening of film, music, and screenwriting competition with a live Annual Screening & Awards Show Event in the land of natural paradise Paro in Bhutan. The sole purpose of DIFF is to celebrate the joy of creation in the lap of nature. DIFF showcases an outstanding presentation of independent filmmaking, while also building a strong sense of community around the art of visual storytelling.

7. Women International Film Festival (Pakistan)

WiFF is Pakistan’s first female international film festival, a platform created for self-expression, citizen journalism, and the raw power of the female gaze. 2026 marked a decade of championing women-led storytelling, showcasing twenty-three films from Pakistan, Australia, Iran, France, the Netherlands, South Korea, Spain, Turkey, Kyrgyzstan, Germany, Italy, the Philippines, and Taiwan, bringing together powerful narratives that explored identity, resistance, belonging, and lived realities across cultures.
